Many misconceptions exist about tree felling, especially in tropical forests. In reality, responsible forestry and sustainable management are essential to ensure the survival of forests and preserve biodiversity.
Wood is a highly sustainable resource, thanks to the careful process in which it is grown, harvested, used, and recycled. Its unique properties further contribute to its environmental friendliness. To get the full overview, it is important to understand each step of the tree's life cycle.
Sustainable Forestry
Trees that grow in sustainable forests are often planted deliberately, as felling and reforestation are key parts of the forest cycle. Forestry helps ensure that forests absorb as much CO₂ as possible from the atmosphere, since young, growing trees absorb more CO₂ than mature ones. Land not used for forestry is often cleared for farming or mining instead, which can be harmful to the environment. Sustainable forestry is therefore clearly beneficial to the planet.
