UN World Goals
The UN's 17 Global Goals (SDGs) are 17 concrete goals and 169 targets that commit all 193 UN member states to completely eliminate poverty and hunger in the world, reduce inequalities, ensure good education and better health for all, decent jobs and more sustainable economic growth. They also focus on promoting peace and security and strong institutions, and on strengthening international partnerships. Thus, the SDGs recognise that social, economic and environmental development, peace, security and international cooperation are closely linked. Achieving sustainable development results requires a common, globally integrated effort. And all countries must contribute. Regardless of the different starting points of the countries. The major challenges we face today are global. And so are the consequences. That is why we need to solve challenges together.

We work with the following UN Global Goals
Achieving sustainable development results requires a concerted global integrated effort. And the big challenges we face today are global and so are the consequences. That is why we are working with SDGs 8, 10, 12, 13 and 15.

Decent jobs and economic growth
We focus on social responsibility and ethical behaviour in our processes in Denmark and around the world. This means, for example, that we truly value our employees, their skills, and their well-being at work. This applies to all parts of our value chain. As a socially responsible partner, we only work with FSC-certified subcontractors, through which we ensure, among other things, good conditions for sawmill workers and that human rights are not violated in our supply chain.

Responsible consumption and production
We at Sommer-Savex are making efforts to stop illegal deforestation in our supply chains. As a result, we strictly follow a Sustainable Procurement Policy prepared in compliance with the EUTR rules. We only purchase from suppliers that comply with the requirements of EU legislation and the respective national laws of the purchasing countries. By strictly complying with the EUTR rules, we prevent illegal timber from entering the European market. We have a preference for certified wood as this gives us assurance that human rights have been respected throughout the value chain.

Life on land
Sommer-Savex helps conserve global forests by supporting sustainable forest management in developing countries, as well as advocating for more certified timber, and thereby engaging us in improving social conditions at our sawmills. Through our procurement policy, we ensure that our supplies come from legal and sustainable forest areas.

Less inequality
At Sommer-Savex, we embrace the diversity of our employees. Our company welcomes all employees regardless of age, nationality, race and gender.

Climate Action
Sommer-Savex contributes to the fight against climate change by supplying the market with a carbon neutral material such as wood. Wood is one of the best alternatives to reduce the environmental impact of buildings. At the same time, we are working to limit our own CO2 emissions through continuous improvements in our operations.
